Calvin & Lincoln's Tale of Love

I adopted Lincoln in 2003.  He had been at Happy Tales for more than a year because of his serious biting problem—he tried to nail me the first time we met, in fact!  Like many declawed cats, he had become paranoid and untrusting.  For the first year we were together I only petted him if he directly asked--even then, I limited my petting to 1-2 strokes and stopped.  When I did get bitten, I never punished him—just suffered in silence!  By the time he had been with me for 3 years he was pretty much normal.  He trusts me 100% and is affectionate and loving—a great lap-sitter!
 
Calvin was adopted in 2006 when my cat Ebony passed away.  Although he and Lincoln eventually became fast friends, it wasn’t easy at first.  Calvin was very good with other cats but Lincoln had had issues with Ebony that never fully resolved and it took some hard work on Calvin’s part to win his love.  As you can see from the photo, they are now the best of friends!
