 Volunteer Opportunities

Saturday Dog Handler: Dog handlers help interact with potential adopters and the dogs at the shelter. They take necessary trips out with the dog and also help answer basic questions that visitors to the shelter may have.

Morning Cat Crew: (Need immediate help on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays) Want to get down and dirty and meet the cats up close and personal? Every morning, this dynamic team keeps the shelter looking great! Volunteers are needed in the mornings to clean out cat condos, replace bedding, change and clean litter boxes, etc. This shift starts at 6am and volunteers must commit to one day a week on a regular basis.

Shelter Assistant: These volunteers help greet the public to Happy Tales and answer general questions about the shelter/adoption process and get potential adopters started on the adoption application. In addition to interacting with the public, they also help keep cat condos tidy and maintain the backroom by folding laundry and cleaning litter boxes.

Cat Whisperer: This program is designed to help our shyer, under nurtered cats more social in hopes of making them more adoptable. When interacting with the cats, Cat Whisperers keep a log of what the cat does and does not like. Our Cat Whispering program operates Tuesday through Friday.

Community Ambassador: These volunteers love to meet new people and interact with the public at off-site events. They aim to educate the community about our mission, explain our programs and the importance of spaying/neutering.
